Bellevue College men’s basketball opened up the 2024-25 season but fell short in two losses; losing 91-60 to South Puget Sound on Fri. Nov. 15 and 80-77 to host Tacoma on Sat. Nov. 16. The games were part of a round-robin tourney featuring two North Region teams (Bellevue and Peninsula) and two West Region teams (host Tacoma and South Puget Sound). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Friday loss was a lopsided defeat in multiple areas as the Clippers outrebounded the Bulldogs 44-22 and were outshot 59 to 37%. The Bulldogs threw up the long ball often, attempting 29 three-pointers but made only six. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Down 59-30 after the first half, BC salvaged a successful second half in which South Puget Sound won 32-30. Isaiah White had 15 points while Sawyer Cottrell and 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the close Saturday loss, the ‘dogs made huge strides in a narrow defeat as freshman Max Mayo was on fire, sinking 15-of-16 shots as he was six-for-seven including three-for-four from three-point range from the field, and a perfect nine-for-nine from the free throw line. Mayo had 24 points and was backed by White who had a sold game with 18 points and six rebounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ‘dogs battled back after being down 42-29 and outscored the Titans 48-38 in the second half in the comeback. White’s layup with one minute on the clock had BC down just four at 76-72. Following a bucket by TCC, Mayo drained a three-pointer to make it 78-75 with 20 seconds to play but Tacoma’s Trey Knight drained both free throws in a must foul situation for Bellevue to end the game. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
