Bellevue College volleyball made a statement today, Wed. Aug. 27, with a convincing 3-0 sweep over perennial power Linn-Benton in Albany, 25-15, 25-23, 25-19. The win over the top-ranked Roadrunners on Linn-Benton’s home court is a first for Bellevue under Head Coach Jocelyn Lawrence and puts the bullseye on Bellevue’s back now as the top team in the NWAC. The Bulldogs swung at a .450 clip for sets one and two while the Roadrunners pressed as the match went on, going from .226 to a dismal .000 hitting percentage in set three. Set two was the thriller as Linn-Benton was up 22-21 before four straight errors handed BC the win and all the momentum. In set three the ‘dogs went on a 10-2 run to put the match away. Mya Hejl led Bellevue with 13 kills. The sophomore middle had five block assists as well. Sophomore libero Liv Deckard led BC on the defensive front with 11 digs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue then travelled to Clackamas for match two, winning 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 25-17). Deckard was a force again in back row with 26 digs. Ava Nowak had five aces and seven kills and 10 digs in an all around solid effort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day before, Tue. Aug. 26, Bellevue defeated Mt. Hood 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 25-13 as Kiana Cueto had 11 kills while Olivia Chilton had seven kills hitting at a .462 clip with five block assists. The Bulldogs took advantage of 36 swing errors by the Cougars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue is now 7-0 and have a week off before a home showdown against Yakima Valley, predicted to be another one of the top contenders in the NWAC. The match is set for Wed. Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
