Bellevue College women’s basketball took care of business early on with 47 first half points as the Bulldogs topped visiting Edmonds 84-49 in the North Region opener for both squads. The Bulldogs were off to the races in the first quarter, outscoring the Tritons 23-10. Shannel Kovalsky had four of the ‘dogs’ six points in the first minutes of the game as Bellevue jumped ahead 6-0. Kovalsky also had the final bucket of the quarter to give Bellevue their biggest lead margin at 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
BC put on the gas in the second quarter, ballooning the lead up to 31 points on a DeAndrea Woods-Singleton layup giving Bellevue a 43-12 lead. Bellevue shot the lights out in the second, shooting 69% from the field to separate them from Edmonds for the remainder of the game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the lead already strongly in Bellevue’s favor, the ‘dogs slowed it down in the second half. The Bulldogs outscored Edmonds in milder fashion in quarters three and four, 19-13 and 18-10 respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kovalsky had 15 points while Leeschelle Sohappy and Alexis Marcussen each had 12. Marcussen’s four steals aided BC’s 15-3 steal advantage. Aysha Peter had a team high seven rebounds. Sophia Mackay came off the bench and was a perfect five for five from the field with 11 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
