The Pirates, currently in first place in the North Region at 10-0, needed all the help they could get in a narrow win on Bellevue’s floor a month ago, and had to work hard again as Bellevue pulled to within seven on a three pointer by Shannel Kovalsky with 4:10 remaining. With a 46-39 lead, Peninsula was able to hold on as the Bulldogs missed their next five shots down the stretch, preventing any type of late comeback.

The ‘dogs were slow offensively in the first half, failing to reach double digits in both the first and second quarters in a low scoring affair for both teams. Down 26-18 at halftime, the Pirates stretched the lead to 12 after three quarters before Bellevue’s run midway through the fourth.

Neither team could find the net much as BC shot 25% from the field. Bellevue had 21 fouls while the Pirates committed only 10. The Pirates also held a strong rebounding edge, 37-24. Kovalsky was the lone Bulldog who could hold her own underneath with 10 rebounds. Aysha Peter led the offensive efforts with 12 points; the only Bulldog in double figures.

Bellevue looks to bounce back this Sat. Feb. 14 with a home game at 4 P.M. against Shoreline. The Dolphins are coming in winless on the year at 0-24.

BC Athletics Bellevue College women's basketball put up a fight into the final quarter but ultimately fell 50-43 to host Peninsula.
