Bellevue College softball went on the road to eastern Washington for a four game set in Pasco and Walla Walla. On Saturday February 21, the Bulldogs had a pair of games on opening day that were called due to the run limit rule. Bellevue won their opener 16-5 over host Columbia Basin before bowing to the Hawks 21-5 in the nightcap. In the early win, the ‘dogs broke a 5-5 tie and had a big inning in the top of the fifth plating nine runs led by a home run by Allie Barashkoff. The two run shot led the scoring onslaught as an singles by Abby Watkins and Ella Singer brought in two apiece. Barashkoff ended the game a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI’s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In game two, the Bulldogs fell flat early, spotting the Hawks 13 runs in the first inning. Strikes was an issue as the Bulldog pitchers allowed six walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch coupled with surrendering six hits to aid the long inning. Barashkoff maintained her offensive presence with another two RBI’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday February 22, Bellevue had another split in similar fashion, winning 11-6 over Walla Walla before falling 13-4 in the weekend finale. Bellevue chipped away with a steady stream of offense scoring in the first, third, fourth, and sixth innings. The ‘dogs tied it up at 4-4 in the third on a three run homer by Barashkoff then added to the lead with two more homers by Maddie Zimprich and Abby Watkins in the fourth. Barashkoff continued her hitting surge with a four RBI game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the finale, after jumping ahead 2-0, the Bellevue pitchers ran out of steam, surrendering seven runs in the second and another five in the fourth as the game was ended early due to the run limit rule. Watkins had two hits while Barashkoff doubled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
