It was Bellevue’s third straight series against top five teams in the NWAC. On Sat. Feb. 28 Bellevue won the opener 4-3 as Cooper Richter went seven innings before Skyler Lynch earned the save with five strikeouts and no walks in two innings. Combined, the two BC arms had 10 strikeouts and no walks. The ‘dogs scored the win with all four runs coming in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Braeden Reese and Luca Morales coupled with three Titan errors. Game two came down to the wire with the bases loaded in the final inning before TCC pitcher Reece Boekenoogen got Zach Hudson to fly out after Hudson fouled off several pitches in a tough at bat. Thomas Wood threw a no hitter through five innings in a stellar no decision effort on the mound for Bellevue in the narrow 2-1 loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday March 1, the Bulldogs won in walk off fashion 5-4 as Wood, hitting for the Bulldogs, was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to win it in the ninth. Orlando Young carried BC’s offense with a four-for-five day at the plate. Michael Komola was clutch again in relief with no walks through two and a third relief innings for the win. In the nightcap, the Bulldogs managed nine hits but could only scratch one run across in a 3-1 defeat. Thoma Holden had three hits for Bellevue. Tommy Zook gave Bellevue their third quality start on the mound going six innings while surrendering only three hits and one run. It was his second quality start in row against the #2 and #4 ranked teams in the NWAC from the West Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bellevue hosts Pierce this Sat.
