Bellevue College baseball won three of four this weekend and nearly made a heroic comeback to sweep the series in game four against Pierce College. On Sat. Mar. 7 the Bulldogs won both at home by scores of 9-8 and 6-5 before winning in mammoth fashion 20-8 in the opener on Sun. Mar. 8 at Pierce. The ‘dogs finally lost in the series finale, 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh after tying it up in the top half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue won the opener in comeback fashion by scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth as pinch hitter Orlando Young clubbed a 2-run homer. Billy Kooy, who had three hits on the day promptly doubled before Caden Kennelly delivered another game winner this season with a double to left center. Ethan Sugimoto homered and had three hits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Saturday nightcap, Sugimoto had another three hits as the ‘dogs fended off a late Pierce rally who scored four in the top of the seventh with Bellevue leading 6-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the offensive explosion in game three, Bobby Trigg hit a home run while Elliot Oster popped two out en route to a 6 RBI game. Oster also doubled while Johnny Hall and Thoma Holden added three hits. Bellevue plated runs in every inning except the seventh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the finale, Bellevue scored four in the top of the seventh on a singles by Sugimoto, Zack Hudson, and pinch hitter Trigg and a double by Oster, who would eventually score the tying run on a passed ball. Kennelly was the sole multiple hit player for Bellevue going 2-for-3. The Raiders would come back to win it on two walks and a hit batter for Pierce’s lone win over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue’s offense had 51 hits and five home runs over the weekend as the team has won five of their last eight heading into the final weekend of pre-season play in Yakima this Sat. Mar. 14. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
