With consistency on offense and from the pitching staff, the greatest highlight over the weekend was flawless defense; the Bulldogs did not commit an error in over 30 innings this past weekend. The flawless defense included several highlight plays that kept the momentum on Bellevue’s side over the entire weekend.

On Saturday April 10, Bellevue’s Cory Urquhart singled home Ian Parmley for the game-winner in extra innings. Parmley also had a complete game shutout entering the final inning of regulation play before Shoreline rallied for 2 runs to send the game into an extra frame. Ronnie Johnson entered and got Bellevue out of the jam in the 7th and pitched a scoreless 8th for the win. In game two, Bellevue spotted Shoreline a 2-0 lead before answering with 15 runs on 19 hits. Will Minice, Cody Edwards, and Parmley all had three hits.

On Sunday April 11, Kyle Swannack earned his 5th win of the year while allowing only 2 hits in 6 innings of shutout work before giving way to the return of left-hander TJ Parthemer, who pitched a scoreless 7th. Parthemer has not pitched since the second week of the season and has recovered from a mild arm injury. Swannack is among the NWAACC leaders in wins and kept Shoreline in check by surrendering only two singles. Ryan Burnett went 4-for-4 with 3 doubles to lead Bellevue. In game two, Shoreline’s defense committed 5 errors in the 2nd inning alone to spot Bellevue a 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs tacked on another 4 in the 5th with 5 hits in the inning. Seafth Howe tossed 5 shutout innings for the win on the mound.

The Bulldogs’ take their 6-game winning streak and hot hitting into this weekend for a four-game series against Douglas. Bellevue’s hitters have risen their team batting average by nearly 30 points in the last two weeks. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 1:00 at Courter Field before journeying up north to Surrey, British Columbia for another 1:00 doubleheader the following day. Sunday’s games will be played at Whalley Stadium.

After needing extra innings in game one on Saturday April 10 against Shoreline to win 3-2, Bellevue College baseball cruised in the following three games winning 15-5, 8-0, and 11-0 to win all four in their weekend series against Shoreline.
