Bellevue College’s Averi Dyer, a freshman outside hitter, recently was named NWAC Volleyball Player of the Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Averi<\/a>In 14 sets last week, Dyer had 67 digs (4.79 dps), three blocks, 3 aces and a 2.47 serve receive average to earn the award for Week 8, announced on Wednesday, Oct. 19.<\/p>\n

“Averi had an outstanding week in serve receive,” BC head coach Jocelyn Lawerence said in the NWAC release. “In one of the matches in the crossover she passed a 3.0. She is extremely effective on the back row and can read an offense well. Her defense and serve receive allowed us to run the ball the way we want to.”<\/p>\n

Dyer also was named NWAC North Region defensive player of the week, while sophomore Kendle Valade-Nunez and freshman Marriah McEachern were named North Region setters of the week.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs<\/a>, who were ranked third in the latest NWAC Under Armour Volleyball Coaches Poll<\/a>, released on Oct. 13, suffered their first conference defeat of the season on Friday, Oct. 21, losing 3-1 to Shoreline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

BC returns to action Monday, Oct. 24 with a home match against Edmonds at 7 p.m. at the Courter Family Athletic Pavilion<\/p>\n
