Contact your local school district for release forms.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Persons with Foreign Student Visas (J-1, F-1, M-1, B-1, or B-2) may not participate in publicly-funded education. International students should inquire with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/eli\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bellevue College English Language Institute.&nbsp;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-default text-bg-default\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_b7288b5e-1f35-4658-a1ec-a6d4f1b10465\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_b7288b5e-1f35-4658-a1ec-a6d4f1b10465\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_b7288b5e-1f35-4658-a1ec-a6d4f1b10465\">Placement &amp; Progression<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_b7288b5e-1f35-4658-a1ec-a6d4f1b10465\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_b7288b5e-1f35-4658-a1ec-a6d4f1b10465\" data-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\"><div class=\"card-body\">\n<p><strong><u>Placement<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The placement policies are used to place students in courses in which they will be most successful and achieve the most outcomes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABE considers placement through English and math assessments that occur upon&nbsp;<strong>Intake<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Intake<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All new students must participate in a BaTS&nbsp;<strong>Intake<\/strong>&nbsp;process for assessment, goal setting, and&nbsp;<strong>Ed Plan<\/strong>&nbsp;prior to the quarter start. Returning students are not required to complete the BaTS&nbsp;<strong>Intake<\/strong>&nbsp;process unless it has been three years since previous attendance; however, Interview Sessions are still required to ensure proper placement and&nbsp;<strong>Ed Plan<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Progress<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who receive a grade of 75% or more in a course demonstrates having met the course outcomes. Those who receive a \u201cNC\u201d grade may repeat the course.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students may not repeat a course more than three times. A student who has not successfully completed a course after three attempts will be advised to step out of the program until there is a change that will allow the student to make the expected progress. Such student will also be referred to other community programs that may better meet his or her needs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-default text-bg-default\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_ebce1323-ae81-45b2-bcc9-df2272b58812\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_ebce1323-ae81-45b2-bcc9-df2272b58812\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_ebce1323-ae81-45b2-bcc9-df2272b58812\">Adult High School Programs<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_ebce1323-ae81-45b2-bcc9-df2272b58812\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_ebce1323-ae81-45b2-bcc9-df2272b58812\" data-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\"><div class=\"card-body\">\n<p>During the Initial Intake Interview, an&nbsp;<strong>Ed Plan<\/strong>&nbsp;is completed with a&nbsp;<strong>Program Manager<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Program Navigator<\/strong>, or faculty member. Washington State sets the minimum requirements for the high school diploma including a total of 19 to 24 credits in English, math, history, government, art, science, physical education, occupational subjects, and electives. Throughout the Intake Interview, student mastery of learning outcomes within the various subjects are reviewed to develop a working transcript and Ed Plan to complete remaining high school requirements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are placed into courses based on credit needs and on ability. The following options may be available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>AHS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All Basic Education and Transitional Studies courses at Bellevue College are aligned with&nbsp;<strong>(CCRs) College &amp; Career Readiness Standards&nbsp;<\/strong>as mandated by&nbsp;<strong>WIOA<\/strong>. Adult High School options develop student reading, writing, and\/or math skills within high school content-based courses. Student&nbsp;<strong>Ed Plans<\/strong>&nbsp;should articulate the quarterly course requirements to complete the remaining high school requirements needed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion of content courses, grades are recorded as such:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grades \u201cB\u201d or above demonstrate meeting learning outcomes and earn high school credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grades \u201cCR\u201d may count towards fulfilling high school elective credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grades \u201cNC\u201d do not receive high school credit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Ability to Benefit I-BEST HS+<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ability to Benefit is a federal program that allows students without a high school equivalency to benefit from student federal financial aid to pay for post-secondary education and training. To be eligible, students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>enrolled in an eligible career pathway program, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>demonstrate eligibility by:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>testing at a certain level of ability,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>earn six college credits successfully, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>co-enroll in&nbsp;<strong>I-BEST&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>HS+&nbsp;<\/strong>programming.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I-BEST<\/strong>&nbsp;is a nationally recognized program that supports students in literacy, work, and\/or college-readiness skills to move further and faster through higher education and into living wage jobs. BaTS supports I-BEST programming in a variety of pathways.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bellevuec.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/r\/teams\/BaTSOperations-BaTSManagement\/SitePages\/I-BEST.aspx?csf=1&amp;web=1&amp;e=FdAfum\">For more details, please review our I-BEST page HERE<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>HS+<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High School Plus is a WA State high school equivalency program for those who are 18 years or older.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can gain high school credits by meeting learning outcomes through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>previously earned high school credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>job trainings and certificates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>life experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>various assessment scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>our program courses and curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students may be enrolled in individual content courses or a Portfolio Course to complete the remaining requirements to demonstrate high school competency. Portfolio courses are online, self-paced courses that allow students to complete a variety of learning modules to demonstrate competencies in various subject areas at the same time. Credit may be awarded based on any work partially or fully completed.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-default text-bg-default\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_3069d6e4-387a-4522-94f0-f8d79a614ef2\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_3069d6e4-387a-4522-94f0-f8d79a614ef2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_3069d6e4-387a-4522-94f0-f8d79a614ef2\">GED\u00ae<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_3069d6e4-387a-4522-94f0-f8d79a614ef2\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_3069d6e4-387a-4522-94f0-f8d79a614ef2\" data-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\"><div class=\"card-body\">\n<p>The GED\u00ae, or General Educational Development assessment, is a group of four academic tests acknowledged within the United States that certify high school equivalent knowledge. BaTS supports GED\u00ae test preparation in conjunction with the Bellevue College CEO Program. These courses do not include the certified assessment or cost thereof.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-default text-bg-default\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_f0f6cb48-7b83-46e7-9ba5-16aa1a3a7284\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_f0f6cb48-7b83-46e7-9ba5-16aa1a3a7284\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_f0f6cb48-7b83-46e7-9ba5-16aa1a3a7284\">Grading<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_f0f6cb48-7b83-46e7-9ba5-16aa1a3a7284\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_f0f6cb48-7b83-46e7-9ba5-16aa1a3a7284\" data-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_5113cf4b-2ce4-46be-b98a-ec600389c7ea\"><div class=\"card-body\">\n<p>Basic and Transitional Studies courses are graded to show&nbsp;a student&#8217;s&nbsp;course completion and progress.&nbsp;Students will be awarded a grade based on the assessment of their ability to meet the outcomes of the course.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion of courses, grades are recorded as such:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grades \u201cB\u201d or above demonstrate meeting learning outcomes and earn high school credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grades \u201cCR\u201d denotes that course outcomes were met. Course may not count towards high school credit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Grade Scale<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A &nbsp; &nbsp; 90-100%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>B &nbsp; &nbsp; 80-89%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CR &nbsp; 75-79%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NC &nbsp;Not yet complete<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All grades and credit accrual must be recorded prior to the end of the quarter in which a student is enrolled. As a result, it is recommended that students meet with&nbsp;<strong>Program Navigators<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>and Managers<\/strong>&nbsp;prior to quarter end to ensure appropriate credit recording. Record retention follow the guidelines found in the Community &amp; Technical College Retention Schedule (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.sos.wa.gov\/_assets\/archives\/recordsmanagement\/community-and-technical-colleges-records-retention-schedule-v.2.1-%28december-2022%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 5.3<\/a>).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students may not repeat a course more than three times.
