Want to Become a BCHS Teacher?

As you explore options, here are some factors to consider:

  • If you’re looking to adapt an existing course, do you have an idea which BC course most closely matches the one you are currently teaching? Check the Bellevue College Course Catalog for a full list of BC courses and their learning outcomes.
  • Have you consulted your chair, principal, and district staff?
  • Do you meet the college’s minimum Hiring Requirements for Adjunct Instructors for the subject area you are interested in teaching?

To apply:

  • Email the following documents to: chsprograms@bellevuecollege.edu
  • Resume or CV
  • Application
  • Unofficial college transcripts
  • Principal Recommendation Letter (template)
  • W-9
  • Please include your current course syllabus, course description, and list of materials, including textbooks, etc.
  • Completed application packets must be submitted and reviewed by early June of 2024 in order to offer a CHS course during the 2024-25 academic year.

Once your application has been approved and you receive your approval letter, you can do the following:

  • Download and complete the CHS Paraprofessional Form first. Return it to susan.hampson@bellevuecollege.edu The Dean will sign it and return it to you, then complete the step below.
  • Complete the TAM Application online. You will need to upload your CHS paraprofessional form to the TAM (Directions). PLEASE NOTE: We realize that you are NOT a para-educator; that is just the name given to the forms by HR.

Teacher Approval and Training

Your application materials will be forwarded to the appropriate CHS Faculty Coordinator who will review the materials and consult with their academic department. You will be contacted if additional information is needed. When the review is completed you and your principal will be notified via email of the department’s decision.

Upon approval, and prior to offering the college course at your high school, you will be asked to participate in a CHS program orientation covering program requirements, policies, procedures and student registration (led by CHS staff) and a discipline-specific training for delivering BC courses (including course outcomes and objectives, syllabi, assessments, grading, and teaching resources–led by your Faculty Coordinator).
