PARED 012 Toddler Observation Lab I • 3 Cr.


Provides education and personal exploration opportunities for parenting the young child ages two through three years old. Students will explore the cognitive, emotional, social and physical development of the young child through research based information, discussion, and observation. Students will observe and practice models of child guidance practices and techniques in the laboratory classrooms.


After completing this class, students should be able to:

  • Recognize normal physical, emotional, social, language and cognitive development of the 2-3 year old child.
  • Observe and identify age-appropriate learning experiences in the toddler laboratory setting.
  • Enhance toddler’s play and learning opportunities through direct interaction with another parent, an appropriate environment, and similar-aged playmates.
  • Develop parenting plan to work with the unique temperamental characteristics of the child.
