You might choose to enroll in our courses to fulfill distribution requirements or elective credits for a transfer degree, or you could enroll to satisfy prerequisites for a variety of degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, you might be pursuing a major in the field of Communication, Journalism, or Film Studies! In that case, we have the following options for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Associate in Arts &amp; Sciences (Transfer Degree). <a class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"comm\">Academic Concentrations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you planning to transfer to a university to pursue a degree in Communication or Film Studies?<\/strong> We are now offering an academic concentration designation on your Associate of Arts and Sciences degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact Katherine Oleson (<a Studies<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_643407a9-8b1b-46ff-88b1-3f0899ec0130\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_643407a9-8b1b-46ff-88b1-3f0899ec0130\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">To qualify, you must:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take CMST&amp;220 Public Speaking, CMST202 Survey of Speech Communication and CMST&amp;102 Introduction to Mass Media (previously SPCH220, SPCH202 and COMM150 respectively).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take 5 credits from any of the following 200-level Communication Studies courses: CMST&amp;210 Interpersonal Communication, CMST&amp;230 Small Group Communication; CMST250 Organizational Communication; CMST280 Intercultural Communication; CMST285 Nonverbal Communication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Five of these credits will be counted as Humanities distribution or you may choose to have CMST&amp;230 (formerly SPCH 225) count as Social Science distribution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must apply to the program chair in Communication Studies for approval and a recommendation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You must also take the following steps to ensure qualification:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Obtain the Application for Academic&nbsp;Concentration form in the Arts and Humanities Division office (R230).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See an advisor in the alert-info has-bc-gold-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\">PLEASE NOTE: Our department has &nbsp;DISCONTINUED the Associate in Arts Movie Making Degree.<br>Any student who has been enrolled in the program <em>prior to the summer 2014<\/em> quarter can still complete the AA in Movie Making degree. We will continue to offer all of the courses needed to complete this AA degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"alert alert-success has-bc-dark-blue-color has-bc-gold-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Any new student enrolling for the <em>2014-2015 &nbsp;ACADEMIC <\/em>YEAR AND BEYOND &nbsp;who is interested in movie making is encouraged to complete the Associate in Arts &amp; Sciences &#8211; DTA degree with an Academic Concentration in Film Studies.
