Ariana is currently a student in the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program as well as the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at Bastyr University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity from Stanford University in 2006. Her training has been holistic, recognizing the biological, psychological, and social factors that affect one’s sense of wellness. A social justice framework underlies her work in counseling and health care. As a counselor-in-training at Bastyr Center for Natural Health and Consejo Counseling and Referral Services, she has worked with a diverse range of clients.
Her counseling approach is client-centered. Building a strong therapeutic alliance is the foundation of effective counseling, and she works collaborative with clients to determine how counseling can meet their needs. Her goal is to provide a counseling environment where clients feel safe to explore what they choose to in session. She recognizes that stress is often present in life, and while we cannot eliminate all stressors, we can practice new ways of orienting to the world in the way that we want.
