Jennifer Williams Van Wyk (She/Her)

Counseling Intern

Biography:

Jennifer Williams Van Wyk is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University. A former Running Start student, Jennifer earned her Associate in Arts and Science from Bellevue College and Bachelor of Arts in Social Science, with a minor in Psychology, from Washington State University (WSU).

As a BC alumni, Jennifer is thrilled to be back on campus for her counseling internship and is greatly looking forward to working with students. Before beginning her graduate studies, Jennifer was a non-traditional college student, spending the first part of her career in tech marketing, taking college courses whenever possible. She has spent considerable time volunteering in school settings and is eager to work with college students.

Jennifer approaches counseling by meeting clients where they are, exploring their goals and experiences, and considering their unique circumstances. She believes humans are inherently relational and best process challenges alongside other individuals. People do well if they can; however, at times their experience, circumstance, and systems within which they exist may be beyond their current capacity to cope alone. Jennifer believes counseling provides a safe space to process these feelings and experiences, collaboratively.

Outside academia, you can find Jennifer collecting books, gardening (especially roses and hydrangeas), baking fancy cakes, and playing Minecraft.
