{"id":102,"date":"2014-03-13T10:07:17","date_gmt":"2014-03-13T17:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/counseling\/?post_type=staff&#038;p=102"},"modified":"2025-12-30T16:05:51","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T00:05:51","slug":"belle-nishioka","status":"publish","type":"staff","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/counseling\/staff\/belle-nishioka\/","title":{"rendered":"Belle Nishioka (she\/her)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Belle Nishioka holds a Master of Arts in\u00a0clinical\u00a0psychology from Antioch University, Seattle, and a Bachelor of Arts in\u00a0international\u00a0affairs\/Japanese\u00a0language from the University of Puget Sound, where she graduated with honors.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">She is passionate about supporting students in achieving their\u00a0academic and professional goals. She began working as a therapist in 1998, spending nine years in mental health agencies providing psychotherapy to children, adults, couples, and families\u00a0before transitioning to community colleges in\u00a02007.\u00a0\u00a0She worked\u00a0as a\u00a0TRiO\u00a0counselor at Everett Community College (supporting first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities) and later as a counselor at Shoreline and Edmonds Community Colleges.\u00a0She joined Bellevue College\u2019s Counseling Center in 2011.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As a state-credentialed African American, Asian\/Pacific Islander, and Child Mental Health Specialist and\u00a0former multicultural mental health\u00a0consultant, Belle is committed to providing socially just and culturally responsive services. She has extensive experience addressing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, family issues, cultural adjustment, and self-esteem. Belle\u00a0is committed to\u00a0helping students develop self-advocacy skills, empowering them to speak up for their needs and navigate systems effectively.\u00a0She\u00a0also\u00a0specializes in working\u00a0with individuals who are\u00a0clairvoyant\/psychic, energy-sensitive, and\/or empathic. In addition to counseling, she teaches Stress Management.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Belle views counseling as a collaborative\u00a0and supportive\u00a0journey and\u00a0uses a variety of approaches, depending on the student\u2019s\u00a0unique circumstances and background. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, swimming\u00a0in\u00a0lakes\u00a0in the summer, traveling, and exploring new cultures\u00a0&#8212; she lived abroad in both\u00a0China and Japan.
