In the Criminal Justice Program, I was Provided with a Multitude of Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There were jail tours, Supreme Court meetings, and a luncheon, as well as emails of events relating to the subject. The professors are helpful and go above and beyond to help students with get their footing and advance their career or even experience more about the field firsthand. The teaching methods showcase genuine passion for the subject and desire to help students. They test you on knowledge they properly teach, and the expectations are fair and help you to grow. I have a better understanding of how to advance my law career after graduating from the program, and I’m glad to have gotten all of those amazing opportunities they provided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Experience in this Program was Nothing Short of Amazing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Professor Freyberg and Chief Bennett were incredible instructors who inspired me more than words can describe. Their leadership, mentorship, and guidance gave me the confidence and courage to pursue a career in law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I still remember walking into both of their classes in 2023. I was 18 years old, fresh out of high school, and all I knew was that I wanted to sit in the front row, stay engaged, and learn as much as I could. From the moment I stepped into their classrooms, I knew I had made the right choice. The way they encouraged students, provided structure and guidance, and genuinely cared about everyone’s success set them apart. They made sure no student was left behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Bennett and Professor Freyberg also brought in outstanding guest speakers and helped me build relationships within the criminal justice field. Those connections continue to help me as I work toward becoming a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether your goal is to become a lawyer, corrections officer, police officer, forensic investigator, or something else entirely, Bellevue College’s Criminal Justice program has something to offer you. During my two years at Bellevue College, I built friendships and professional connections that I know I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Whether you’re already knowledgeable about criminal justice or completely new to the field, this program will help you grow. If you come to class ready to engage, learn, and make a difference in your community, this program is the right choice for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there are two lessons I took away from my time at Bellevue College that I hope to carry into my criminal justice career, they would be these:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, have a guardian mindset and treat every person, whether they are a victim, suspect, or witness, with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, never stop learning. The criminal justice field is a lifelong journey of learning and adapting. Policies change, laws evolve, communities grow, and culture shifts. Never stop learning and never stop training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two quotes that continue to guide me in both my personal life and professional career are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Under pressure, you don’t rise to the occasion; you fall to the level of your training.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“No man is above the law, and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man’s permission when we require him to obey it. Obedience to the law is demanded as a right, not asked as a favor.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to Professor Freyberg, Chief Bennett, and all of the professors I had at Bellevue College for making such a lasting impact on my life. You gave me the knowledge, skills, and confidence I needed to pursue a career in law enforcement, and for that, I will always be grateful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
