Biography:

Dr. Zhi Y. Li is bringing in 15 years of experience in innovation and leadership to Bellevue College. Upon earning his Ph.D. in CS from the University of Maryland at College Park in 2005, he joined Leica to lead and invent some of the best algorithms on 3D point cloud. Then he spearheaded Microsoft’s first GPS turn-by-turn navigation on mobile platforms. At Amazon, he single-handedly coded its first shopping app on Windows Phone while helping build the first Kindle Fire tablet on Android. Before long, Zhi was poached by Samsung to establish its first R&D lab in Washington. In five years, he helped grow the lab from scratch into one of Samsung’s most innovative labs in the U.S. Before returning to academia, he spent four years at an IoT platform startup and a voice-driven EdTech startup where he served as the CTO.
