Every year, the Code.org Advocacy Coalition, Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), and the Expanding Computer Science Pathways (ECEP) Alliance publishes the State of Computer Science Education<\/a> report. This presentation looks at what the 2024 report says about Washington from both the data and policy perspectives, how K-12 Washington compares nationally, and provides nuances and additional details from those of us in Washington working on K-12 computer science education data and policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawrence <\/strong>Tanimoto<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

is the Treasurer\/Advocacy Lead of CSTA Washington.   Although now retired, Lawrence advocates for K-12 computer science education in several roles.  From 2014-2021, Lawrence taught computer science at Ingraham High School, a large, public, multicultural high school in north Seattle.   Before teaching, Lawrence worked for over 28 years in the international computer industry, the last 18 years with Microsoft <\/p>\n\n\n\n
