Restorative Hours for Faculty: Tuesdays | 9:30-10:30AM | Social Justice Center B207 & Teams

Drop in to ask questions about restorative practices and get 1-1 support with techniques to build community and navigate issues in your classrooms, teams, and/or department.


Umoja – The Village Drop-in Hours: Tuesday’s | 9:00AM – 5:00PM | Social Justice Center B215

The Social Justice Center’s mission is to provide training, professional development, restorative practices, and educational programming that engages Bellevue College with community care and social justice at its core. 

Social Justice Center Staff
The Social Justice Center (B215) supports the Umoja Scholars Program which is dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of Black, African American, and other students. On these days, The SJC and Umoja supports student success through ethnocentric curriculum and pedagogy responsive to the legacy of the African and African American Diasporas and experiences of students.

Social Justice Center Drop-in/Lunch Hour: Every Wednesday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Social Justice Center B207

An open drop-in/Lunch with Bellevue College’s community to visit the SJC, bring lunch, and engage in the Social Justice Center. Share in the space and provide your perspective, insight, and resources related to our mission.




Film & Documentary Series: (Starting Jan 24th) Every Friday | 10:30AM – 2:30PM | Social Justice Center B207

The Social Justice Center (B207) promotes critical discussions that shift culture, advocate for change, and awareness of social justice. This is done through Book Talks, Art, or Film & Documentary Series. Films & Documentaries can be recommended for review to be shared through the Acting Director of the SJC. All Films & Documentaries will be vetted, selected, and approved by the Social Justice Director under the guidance of the VP of the Office of Community Care & Institutional Transformation.

Wellness Series (W) Minna Kim & Tory Trujillo: February 20, 2025| 11AM – 2:00PM | Social Justice Center B207

All are welcome to explore this wellness place. The SJC will be configured to support the wellness of all who attend with a variety of stations on various topics at the intersection of wellness and co-liberation that can be explored individually. There will be one sound healing session will be co-facilitated by Minna Kim and Tory Trujillo from 12-1pm. Minna Kim will offer guided meditation, and Tory will offer sound healing. The hour before and after the sound healing sessions, attendees are welcome to explore the stations that will be set-up throughout the space.

Social Justice Center (SJC)

SJC’s Vision is to be a beacon of support, education, action, and inspiration, and it is committed to uplifting Bellevue College as a north star for community care and institutional transformation. 

SJC’s Mission is to center the people that make up our community in policies and practices. We work to understand the root causes of harm, provide educational opportunities through trainings, professional development, restorative practices, and sustained programming that engages Bellevue College in transformational practices.  

 

SJC’s Objectives:

  • Drive meaningful capacity building that creates community through communication, listening, relationships, and dignity. 
  • Provide professional development programming and a commitment to care through learning resources and social justice.
  • Support community engagement with resources that provide solidarity, restorative care, strategic rest, and meaningful dialogue around the importance of care for Bellevue College and the wider community.

 The SJC PATH Programming is to have standard and select calendared actions that activate a brave space, providing resources that train, guide, inform, and empower continuous learning with a commitment to social justice and community care.
