Tips for referring students:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Let them know the Disability Resource Center is the specific office that handles accommodations for Bellevue College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The more explicit a student is about having a disability, 504 or IEP Plan the more explicitly you can refer them to us. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a student talks more generally about struggling, or they come from a culture with lots of stigma around having a disability, list us as one of a few resources that could offer support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay extra attention to your tone, facial expressions and body language. Many students can be sensitive or anxious to how people view their disability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer to accompany or refer students to the our office to show them you are not judging and support them. Students can experience anxiety when coming into any new office and asking for help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make your course as accessible as possible. Proactive accessibility reduces barriers for disabled students that don&#8217;t have accommodations yet!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"LOA-responsibilities\">For Faculty who receive a Letter of Accommodation:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are additional responsibilities for faculty if they have a student with accommodations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read through the Letter of Accommodation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your student&#8217;s Access Specialist if you have any questions about the accommodations\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you have a student with an accommodation you think may fundamentally alter your course, please reach out!
