Each specific deadline\/assignment extension needs to be communicated with the faculty. The general guidance is to use the accommodation up to 4 times per quarter. Students should contact the DRC if more are needed.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Request accommodations through the DRC each quarter\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with faculty at the start of the quarter to discuss the course syllabus and the accommodation\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform your faculty as soon as you know you need a deadline extension\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use your faculty\u2019s preferred communication method (For example: Canvas or Email)\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate clearly that you need to use your Flexibility in Deadlines accommodation for a disability-related reason\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand that each deadline needs to be communicated individually\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand that deadline requests are not always possible with all types of assignments \u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your Access Specialist for assistance in working with faculty or if you are too far behind in class and need to pursue a Medical Withdrawal\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faculty Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inform student of any deadlines that are not possible to extend (examples: pre-lab assignments, group projects)\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respond to student communication regarding use of the accommodation\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact the DRC for assistance or with any concerns\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DRC Responsibilities <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Send requested accommodation in Letter of Accommodation to faculty and student\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend meetings with faculty and student as requested to discuss the accommodation\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with conversations between student and faculty regarding Flexibility in Deadlines\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Flexibility in Deadlines accommodation allows a student extensions on assignment deadlines without penalty when experiencing a disability related barrier to turning in the assignment on time.\u202f\u202f&nbsp; Flexibility in Deadlines should be used occasionally.
