Course Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note<strong>: <\/strong>Student comments are disabled by default on Announcements in Canvas courses. Do not modify this setting in merged courses. Course Content in your Primary Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty must Hide\/Remove the People, Chat, Conferences and Collaborations course navigation tabs from their Canvas course site to restrict students\u2019 ability to view and interact with another course section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Course Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigation Tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disable items like People, Chat, Conferences, Collaborations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"447\" height=\"233\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/182\/2017\/04\/Course-Merge-HideCanvasTools.png\" alt=\"Course Merge Hide Canvas Tools like People, Chat, Conferences and Collaboration\" class=\"wp-image-3776 img-fluid \" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/182\/2017\/04\/Course-Merge-HideCanvasTools.png 447w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/182\/2017\/04\/Course-Merge-HideCanvasTools-300x156.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 447px) 100vw, 447px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"_Toc481129742\"><\/a>C. Sending a message to all students using the Canvas Inbox:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are two options for sending a message in Canvas and staying FERPA compliant with combined courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When composing a message, check the box that says \u201c<u>send an individual message to each recipient.<\/u>\u201d This will prevent students from sending a \u201creply all\u201d response or seeing to whom the message was sent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the address book in the \u201cTo\u201d box and then select \u201ccourse sections.\u201d This will allow you to send a message to students in a specific section.
