Simple<\/strong>: to help students engage with a course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Getting Started Module is an entry point for students in the course–whether hybrid or online. The Interactive eLearning department has developed a Getting Started Module template for Canvas courses. This template contains placeholders for course-specific information that you, the instructor, can easily change and modify to include your information. What the Getting Started Module does is encourage students to work in your course and discover the content that is necessary for success. Think of it as a way to introduce the course syllabus, assignment and reading guidelines, instructor information, and other information vital to your course in a regular manner that students will easily receive because of the repetition of information and order of the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to download a Module to add it to a Canvas course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Download the Module<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Check out the Canvas Public Course<\/a> where this module is published.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Login to Canvas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Download the Getting Started Module<\/a> as a Canvas export file (an imscc file).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Save the “.imscc<\/strong>” file on your desktop.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Adding the Module to a Canvas Course or your Canvas Sandbox<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Log in to the Canvas course you wish to add the Getting Started Module<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Go to Settings<\/strong> and select Import Content<\/strong> Into this Course\n
