It will be replaced with a similar tool called SimCheck.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plagiarism tool<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>VeriCite is the plagiarism used at the college \u2013 VeriCite &#8211; https:\/\/www.vericite.com\/.&nbsp; This VeriCite link now takes you to the Turnitin site as Turnitin has purchased VeriCite. Our contract has not changed and we still have the same contract as before. The tool is still called VeriCite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vericite.com\/docs\/VeriCite_PressRelease-02-09-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VeriCite has joined Turnitin<\/a>. You can read about the merger in this press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VeriCite&nbsp;native integrations with Canvas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>VeriCite now has the&nbsp;\u201cnative integration\u201d in place. This native integration will closely integrate VeriCite reports with the grading and feedback tools in Canvas.&nbsp;&nbsp;This native integration allows instructors to use VeriCite and the SpeedGrader together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VeriCite\/Canvas Instructor Guide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Canvas VeriCite Instructor Guide &#8211; Coming Soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Videos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f3lSaB2lCe4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grading a VeriCite assignment in Canvas<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SjYpqlUWDQg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canvas assignment submission tutorial for Students<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Support for the VeriCite&nbsp;will be provided by the Interactive eLearning Department &amp; Media Center in D140.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding VeriCite when creating an Assignment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When creating an Assignment, under <strong>More Options<\/strong>, under <strong>Submission Type<\/strong>, select <strong>Online<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check the box to select File Uploads<\/strong>, and make sure check the box to <strong>Enable VeriCite Submissions.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Advanced VeriCite Settings<\/strong> to set the <strong>View options<\/strong> for Students.\u00a0The default is immediately.<br>Note: Immediately can mean 5 minutes or an hour or more, depending on the number of papers in our system that need to be checked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Exclude Quoted Material&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211;&nbsp; <\/em>By default, VeriCite will not perform matching for items in quotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Excluded Self Plagiarism&nbsp; &#8211;&nbsp; <\/em>By default, when a student turns in papers in the Same Canvas Course, they are not matched against their other submissions in that course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Store submission in Institutional Index&nbsp; &#8211;&nbsp; <\/em>By default, when a student submits a paper a copy goes into BC\u2019s VeriCite index\/repository and compared to other VeriCite submissions at BC. Currently VeriCite exists as an LTI integration (External tool integrations). Canvas does not allow group assignments for external tool integrations. You can see that when you select the external tool option while editing the assignment, the group assignment options go away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VeriCite has been working on an internal integration with Canvas which is almost ready and will be available with the group options. We are in the final stages and are waiting for Instructure to QA and release our code. However, we do not have a specific timeline from Canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which document types does VeriCite accept when uploading an Assignment Submission?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>(submitted by Keith Rowley &#8211; IBIT Faculty)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students may&nbsp;upload Microsoft Word documents with a <strong>.docx<\/strong> or a <strong>.doc<\/strong> extension. VeriCite will also accept text files with a <strong>.rtf<\/strong> or<strong> .txt<\/strong> extension. Any other format will not be accepted by VeriCite.
