{"id":6,"date":"2013-08-23T16:06:01","date_gmt":"2013-08-23T16:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/mayflower-template-full\/?page_id=6"},"modified":"2024-01-05T18:31:56","modified_gmt":"2024-01-06T02:31:56","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ethnic\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As a subject, Cultural and Ethnic Studies is the comparative analyses of racial and ethnic groups, interpretations of cultural practices, examination of biases and exploration of a vision of a \u201cmulticulturally intelligent\u201d society, with heightened awareness of embedded beliefs and stereotypes regarding race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, and disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cultural and Ethnic Studies Department at BC offers courses in race in the United States; white culture in United States; women&#8217;s studies; Asian American Studies; the literature of Indigenous cultures; and ethnic experiences in art &amp; music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of these provide credits to fulfill the social science distribution requirement for BC&#8217;s degree programs and transfer to Washington State four-year institutions as social science credit.
