Student loans are a type of federal financial aid. BC participates in the Direct Stafford Loan program which is a low-interest, federal loan program and offers you the best benefits as a borrower. To apply for this loan, you’ll still apply for financial aid as outlined on our site and submit some additional documents.

Time Limitation of Direct Subsidized Loan Eligibility for First-Time Borrowers

EFFECTIVE July 1, 2013:There is a limit on the maximum period of time (measured in academic years) that a student can receive Direct Subsidized Loans. In general, students may not receive Direct Subsidized Loans for more than 150% of the published length of their program. More information regarding this 150% limitation on Direct Subsidized Loans.

On a case-by-case basis the college reserves the right to refuse to certify a loan if a student has high indebtedness and/or a pattern of prior repayments or defaults, or the student is nearing loan aggregate limits, and/or insufficient funding/balances are available to complete a program.

Student Loan Advocacy

The Washington Student Achievement Council’s student loan advocate supports current and future student loan borrowers in Washington State.  The advocate can:

  • Address student borrower complaints
  • Provide information and resources about student loan repayment
  • Educate the public about the rights and responsibilities of student loan borrowers
