Miranda Kato, Project Based Learning Lead.

Join us in welcoming Miranda Kato to the Faculty Commons Team! She has been selected as the Project Based Learning Lead.

Miranda Kato was born and grew up in Taipei Taiwan. She studied at National Taiwan University and majored in Philosophy.  She received her master’s degree from the Ohio State University with an emphasis in business consulting and adult education. Her doctoral study was in Human Resources Education from Boston University.

She has managed strategic human resource initiatives, training, and organizational development functions in several multinational corporations for over 15 years. She has helped several multinational companies such as Citicorp, CIGNA Healthcare, Verizon New York Telephone Company, and Prudential Relocation International with leadership development, team building, employee development, organizational redesign, cultural change, and process improvement efforts. She also had done multiple HRM consulting projects with hospitals and companies in China.

She taught MBA programs at City University of Seattle and started to teach healthcare management courses at Bellevue College in 2007.

Miranda’s teaching interests are in the areas of organizational behavior, group dynamics, conflict resolution, change management, leadership development, process improvement, global health, cross-cultural communication, and strategic human resource planning.  Her instructional approaches reflect the philosophy of problem-based, project-based, and team-based learning paradigms.

As the Project Based Learning Lead, Miranda Kato is committed to establishing and leading continued collaborative efforts among educational institutions, business communities, and corporations to help them thrive in a global competitive market.

In her spare, Miranda loves to watch science fiction and detective movies, going to classical music concerts, dancing, and sampling new restaurants in the area. She has been learning how to golf for three years.

She is holding office hours at Faculty Commons on Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. or by appointment on Wednesdays (winter quarter).
