Many of us think of technical knowledge, but essential skills (sometimes called &#8220;soft&#8221; skills) are equally valuable. Research shows that a significant gap exists between what skills employers want in new hires and recent graduates&#8217; actual abilities in interpersonal communication, critical thinking, collaboration, adaptability, and presentation skills. These are the skills that help students think clearly, work effectively with others, and make meaningful contributions, whether&nbsp;that&#8217;s&nbsp;in research, industry, public service, healthcare, or any career path they choose.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if you can enrich your courses with these skills without adding to your workload or adding content to your already full curriculum? Many of us touch on these skills implicitly in our courses.
