Visual artist and weaver Allyce Wood is pleased to exhibit Mirror Sequence<\/i>, a selection of recent tapestries that expand upon the feminist legacy of craft and intricate algorithmic poetics. Texts are translated into weaving codes based on 18th century traditions to create detailed matrices, while the artists hand inlays her images and icons thread by thread.<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bio:\u00a0Allyce Wood is a visual artist and weaver based in Seattle, Washington. She earned a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and an MA in Medium and Material-Based Art from Kunsh\u00f8gskolen i Oslo. She has received grants from 4Culture, Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond, Arts Council Norway, Artist Trust, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs. Wood has participated in residencies in the USA and Scandinavia, including at the University of Washington’s DXArts Program, Peters Valley School of Craft, the Praxis Fiber Workshop, and the Icelandic Textile Center. She has completed public projects with Sound Transit, Seattle Restored, the City of Edmonds, and the City of Burien. Her work has been recently exhibited at Gallery 4Culture, Ortega y Gasset Projects, Common Area Maintenance, the Tacoma Art Museum, and many others.<\/p>\n
