{"id":244,"date":"2020-11-23T21:40:13","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T21:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/gbvprevention\/?page_id=244"},"modified":"2020-11-23T21:40:14","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T21:40:14","slug":"stalking","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/gbvprevention\/stalking\/","title":{"rendered":"Stalking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Stalking is a pattern of repeated and unwanted attention, harassment, contact, or any other course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stalking can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Repeated, unwanted, intrusive, and frightening communications from the perpetrator by phone, mail, and\/or email.<\/li><li>Repeatedly leaving or<\/li><li>Following&nbsp;or laying in wait for the victim at places such as home, school, work, or recreation place.<\/li><li>Making&nbsp;direct or indirect threats to harm the victim, the victim&#8217;s children, relatives, friends, or pets.<\/li><li>Damaging&nbsp;or threatening to damage the victim&#8217;s property.<\/li><li>Harassing&nbsp;victim through the internet.<\/li><li>Posting&nbsp;information or spreading rumors about the victim on the internet, in a public place, or by word of mouth.<\/li><li>Obtaining&nbsp;personal information about the victim by accessing public records, using internet search services, hiring private investigators, going through the victim&#8217;s garbage, following the victim, contacting victim&#8217;s friends, family work, or neighbors, etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.victimsofcrime.org\/our-programs\/stalking-resource-center\">Stalking Resource Center<\/a>, National Center for Victims of Crime<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Address Confidentiality Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington&#8217;s Secretary of State has established a program to help victims of domestic and sexual violence, assault, trafficking, stalking, and targeted criminal justice employees that have relocated to avoid further harassment and\/or abuse. Participants are able to&nbsp;keep their location secret by obtaining&nbsp;a substitute address they can use instead.
