Find out more about the GBVP Office history and future of our office. We want to thank those who worked hard on the application for the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Grant from the Department of Justice<\/a> and secured the funding to make the office possible.\u00a0The Campus Program grant was created by Congress in recognition of the unique issues and challenges that colleges and universities face in preventing and responding to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. This grant is under the purview of the\u00a0Office on Violence Against Women<\/a>\u00a0(OVW). The GBVP Office is fully funded and mandated from the\u00a0Campus Program<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue has been awarded this prestigious grant twice despite a global pandemic! Additionally, only 52 colleges in the nation and Bellevue College was 1 out of 3 chosen from Washington.  Yes, it\u2019s a big deal to be awarded twice!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue College was awarded first awarded the OVW Campus Grant in 2019 because of many amazing staff and faculty members who championed the award because of their passion to stop sexual violence on campus.  The grant funding supports the development of trauma-informed and holistic prevention curriculum and education to reduce harm, investigate, and respond to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking in order to minimize re traumatizing survivors. Through the grant, the Coordinated Care Response Team (CCRT) was developed to assist in grant initiatives. In 2021, Bellevue College was awarded the Campus Program Grant<\/a> once more despite working through a global pandemic and transitions on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prevention education and advocacy will adapt to virtual, hybrid, and in person over time as we updated based on campus needs. Resources will be updated online and in person to reflect who to contact for advocacy and support to make reaching out more accessible for students.
