{"id":39,"date":"2014-05-29T14:09:14","date_gmt":"2014-05-29T21:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/geo\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2024-05-24T11:41:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T18:41:37","slug":"concentration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/geo\/concentration\/","title":{"rendered":"Concentration in Geography"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Students who are following an associate in Arts and Sciences degree can secure a&nbsp;<b>\u2018Concentration in Geography\u2019<\/b>&nbsp;by successfully completing coursework that will be specially noted on their transcripts and degrees upon graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">The advantages of securing this concentration and conveying a genuine interest and depth of understanding and level of commitment in Geography will be relevant to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">a future employer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">a university admissions officer at a baccalaureate institution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">and of course to yourself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to secure an academic concentration in Geography?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Complete 20 credits in Geography with a grade C- or better in each class from the following class distributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Class Distributions:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">You are required to take the&nbsp;<b>Geog 100<\/b>&nbsp;class and then a selection of&nbsp;<b>three additional classes<\/b>&nbsp;from the classes listed below (Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.bellevuecollege.edu\/preview_program.php?catoid=9&amp;poid=2312#geography\">course catalog<\/a> for more information on these courses.):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 100: Introduction to Geography and three classes from<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 102: World Regional Geography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 105: Geography of World Affairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 108: Violent Face of Nature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 123: Introduction to Globalization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 200: Introduction to Human Cultural Geography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 205: Geography of Weather and Climate Change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 250: Geography of the Pacific Northwest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Geog 258: Introduction to Maps and Mapmaking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\"><strong>AND THEN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">When you are nearing graduation, complete a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.bellevuecollege.edu\/studentcentral\/graduation-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Graduation Application form<\/a>\u00a0and submit it to the graduation office electronically.\u00a0 Note: You will need to complete TWO SEPARATE Graduation Applications \u2013 one for your degree and one for your Academic Concentration.\u00a0<strong><em>Please Note:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Concentrations must be awarded in the same quarter as your Arts and Sciences DTA.
