Geologists work in every corner of the Earth, from ice-covered mountains to the depths of the oceans. Geologists study more than just rocks &#8211; they also study the interactions between Earth&#8217;s climate, oceans and life. The research conducted by geologists helps us understand the hazards humans face from Earth processes such as volcanoes and tsunami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Geology as a major offers strong career opportunities, particularly in areas of disaster management, mining and petroleum geology and environmental geology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Bellevue College, Geology is one of five sciences that comprise our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/earthspacescience\/\">Earth and Space Sciences Program<\/a> (the others are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/astronomy\/\">Astronomy<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/environmentalscience\/\">Environmental Science<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/oceanography\/\">Oceanography<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/meteorology\/\">Meteorology<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USGS scientist at Kilauea volcano.
