Comma Activity

Read through the following sentences and fix the comma usage errors. This may mean changing the sentence structure or punctuation.

  1. Although I love the park I don’t think I can go without the dog.
  2. On the other hand maybe the dog doesn’t have to go to the park with us.
  3. Jackson Mr. Martin’s dog knows when to get excited and when to stay at home.
  4. It is important to know when to bring a dog similarly one has to know when to leave it at home.
  5. Moreover a dog should know its place in the home.
  6. Like most dogs Jackson has her favorite toys: a tennis ball, a teddy bear, and a deer hoof.

Answers:

  1. Although I love the park, I don’t think I can go without the dog.

Coordinating Conjunction Activity

Use the proper coordinating conjunction (for, and, or, but, nor, yet, so) to connect the two sentences (independent clauses) together.

  8. Summers are long and hot.______________I never get to use the air conditioning.
