Dr. Sabrina Sanchez joined Bellevue College in 2012 after teaching at South Texas College on the U.S.\/Mexico border.\u00a0 After serving as Chair of the History program for 7 years, Dr. Sanchez began serving as Assistant Dean of the Social Science division in 2022. Her specializations include U.S. and Latin American history, Women’s history, and Mexican-American history.\u00a0 Dr. Sanchez earned her B.A. in History with High Honors from the University of California-Berkeley, and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of California-Santa Cruz.\u00a0 Research to complete “In the Name of the Father, the Governor, and ‘A-1 Good Men’: Performing Gender and Statehood in Territorial New Mexico, 1880-1912,” her dissertation on race and masculinity in the southwest borderlands, was funded by national fellowships from the American Association of University Women, the State Historian of New Mexico Scholars fellowship, the University of California New Racial Studies program, and the Institute for Humanities Research and the Chicano\/Latino Research Center at the University of California-Santa Cruz.\u00a0 Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Sanchez moved to the Pacific Northwest after living and teaching in McAllen, Texas; Washington, D.C.; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Berkeley, Sunnyvale, and Santa Cruz, California.\u00a0 At Bellevue College, Dr. Sanchez is the faculty adviser for the History Club, Amnesty International, Rotoract Club, and the Helping Hands Club. \u00a0She is the current Vice President of the Association of Washington Historians.<\/p>\n
