She previously worked as a lecturer at the University of Washington where she was nominated for a distinguished teaching award. &nbsp;Dr. Scott earned her Ph.D. in History at the University of Chicago, where she was awarded the Trustees Fellowship.&nbsp; She received her undergraduate degree in History at Arizona State University, and graduated with distinction from Southern Methodist University with a Masters Degree in History.&nbsp; A native of Chicago, professor Scott\u2019s research focuses on race, urban history, sports, and the South.&nbsp;&nbsp; She is currently completing two book-length manuscripts.&nbsp; The first explores how lynching, once a strictly punitive and largely clandestine form of political and labor domination, evolved into publicly viewed, well-attended, frequently commercialized exhibitions of racial violence.&nbsp; Her second manuscript examines the genesis and defense of racial homogeneity in white Dallas, Texas neighborhoods. &nbsp;Dr. Scott has also worked on multiple public history projects, including an investigation of Freedman\u2019s Cemetery, a 19th century African American burial ground.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":63,"parent":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-62","staff","type-staff","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff\/62","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/staff"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"version-history":[{"count":5,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff\/62\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1350,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff\/62\/revisions\/1350"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/63"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/hist\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=62"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
