He earned his PhD from Marquette University in 2017, where his dissertation,\u00a0<i>Transmitting Revolution: Radio, Rumor, and the 1953 East German Uprising<\/i>,\u00a0considered how a national\u00a0rebellion\u00a0became thinkable in a dictatorial state. Michael specializes in modern European history and has also worked on projects related to Holocaust experiences at\u00a0Jewish Museum Milwaukee and with the Generation After Oral History Project. He loves teaching even more than research and is eager to help students use the past to make better sense of the world around us. Prior to moving to Washington, Michael taught at National Louis University in Chicago, Carroll University (WI), the University of Wisconsin \u2013 Waukesha, and Averett University in Virginia.
