What is Digital Marketing?

In the past, most companies and brands would spend the bulk of their marketing budgets on traditional advertising such as TV commercials, billboards, or magazine ads. These were effective at getting branded messages in front of many consumers… but not so great at getting people to actionable next steps.  The widespread adoption of the internet has led to an evolution of new digital marketing platforms such as commerce-enabled web sites, search, display, social media, online video, and mobile.

Digital marketing platforms are popular with companies because they provide accountability on whether their marketing efforts actually drove sales.  Tight budgets require that all money spent is leading to results.  Local employers need more skilled graduates who understand digital platforms and can be critical thinkers who solve business problems.

If you are interested in learning these skills and finding employment opportunities in a high demand industry, you should consider the Digital Marketing Bachelor of Applied Science degree at Bellevue College.  We would love to have a conversation with all interested candidates, but there are a few prerequisites you should know about for this exciting new BAS:

Program Prerequisites

  • Students have an Associate degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; transfer students may also be eligible (there is a minimum requirement of 90 equivalent credits)
  • Students have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0, with a minimum grade of 2.0 in each required prerequisite course
  • Students have completed the following courses, or their equivalent:
    • BTS 189
    • BUS& 101
    • ENGL& 101
    • MATH& 107 or higher
    • MKTG 101, 102, 234, 261, and 262
