Literary Journal of Bellevue College

Belletrist, the literary journal of Bellevue College, presents a discussion that examines the growth of online publications and provides insight for writers looking to gain a toehold. In recent months major print literary magazines have shuttered their doors completely (GlimmerTrain, Tin House) or abandoned their print issues for strictly online content (Seattle Review). Online content presents a future for literary magazines, the majority of which lack the funding for print production and distribution. But what works online? In the world of clickbait and slide-in advertising, how does literary writing gain traction? What are editors looking for? Belletrist editors will discuss their thoughts on the digital world of literary magazines, what attracts their attention in the submission boxes, and more.

Contributing to the discussion will be Audrey Bean, news editor for The Watchdog, and Unica Le, founder of the Poetry Club.
