{"id":48,"date":"2013-11-06T13:51:25","date_gmt":"2013-11-06T21:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/imaging\/?page_id=48"},"modified":"2021-12-08T14:55:53","modified_gmt":"2021-12-08T22:55:53","slug":"radiologist-assistant","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/imaging\/radiologist-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"Radiologist Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-alert alert alert-info\">\n<p><strong>The Radiologist Assistant program is currently on hold, pending the outcome of legislation related to the services provided by Radiologists Assistance and Medicare: \u00a0March 29, 2017 \u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/115th-congress\/senate-bill\/769\" target=\"_blank\">S. 769<\/a> and on April 5, 2017 <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/115th-congress\/house-bill\/1904\/titles\" target=\"_blank\">H.R. 1904<\/a>. These bills will enact a law that amends Medicare reimbursement policy and supervision levels for radiologist assistants to align them with state radiologist assistant laws.\u00a0 For more information, please see the ASRT website: \u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/cqrcengage.com\/asrt\/RA\" target=\"_blank\">Medicare Recognition of the Radiologist Assistant<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><b><i>We are not admitting new students to this concentration at this time.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Curriculum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A radiologist assistant is an advanced-level ARRT-certified radiographer who performs radiologic procedures under the direction of a radiologist to enhance patient care in the diagnostic imaging environment. Under radiologist supervision, the radiologist assistant performs patient assessment, patient management and selected exams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The radiologist assistant has three primary areas of responsibility, all performed with the direction of a radiologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Perform patient assessment, patient management and patient education.<\/li><li>Perform selected radiology procedures including, but not limited to, fluoroscopy.<\/li><li>Conduct systematic analysis to ensure quality care is delivered to radiology patients.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The full-time, 24-month Radiologist Assistant concentration is offered under the Radiation and Imaging Sciences program in the Bachelor of Applied Science degree. It is an advanced academic program encompassing a nationally recognized radiologist assistant curriculum and a radiologist directed clinical preceptor ship that will help students prepare for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiologist Assistant certification examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program was funded by a grant awarded under the President\u2019s Community-Based Job Training Grants, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor\u2019s Employment &amp; Training Administration. In addition, you must submit a resume demonstrating that you have practiced for two years as a certified (ARRT) radiographer.
