{"id":17311,"date":"2026-03-02T08:19:31","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T16:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/?page_id=17311"},"modified":"2026-04-10T11:26:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T18:26:01","slug":"reduced","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/reduced\/","title":{"rendered":"Reduced Course Loads (Less than Full-Time)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Academic Difficulty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An F-1 visa student who is having\u00a0<strong>initial\u00a0<\/strong>difficulty with the English language or reading requirements, unfamiliar with U.S. teaching methods or improper course level placement should meet with their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> to discuss permission to drop below 12 credits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This is for the\u00a0<strong>initial\u00a0academic quarter only<\/strong>, a student must enroll in a minimum of 6 credits.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Medical Reduced Course Load<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An F-1 visa\u00a0student with a\u00a0<strong>temporary<\/strong>\u00a0illness or other medical condition that interrupts a full course of study\u00a0should connect with their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> to discuss the requirements and limitations. An International Student Advisor must review the letter from your licensed medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, psychologist, or clinical psychologist first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do\u00a0<strong>not\u00a0<\/strong>drop your classes until your International Student Advisor approves your request. Medical RCL is approved on a quarterly basis and may be allowed for a period\u00a0not\u00a0to exceed an aggregate of 12 months (or four quarters) per an education level.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Graduation Reduced Course Load <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An F-1 status student who needs <strong>fewer than 12 credits<\/strong> to complete their program of study is considered to be pursuing a full course of study if the student enrolls in the number of credit hours required to <strong>complete the program in the final term<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A student must seek permission <strong>BEFORE <\/strong>from an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> to take less than 12 credits based in the last quarter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-button\"><a class=\"btn btn-warning btn-block  \" href=\"https:\/\/international.bellevuecollege.edu\/index.cfm?FuseAction=Students.Apply&amp;Program_ID=10044\" aria-disabled=\"false\"><strong>Graduation Reduced Course Load Request<\/strong> <\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Academic Difficulty An F-1 visa student who is having\u00a0initial\u00a0difficulty with the English language or reading requirements, unfamiliar with U.S. teaching methods or improper course level placement should meet with their International Advisor to discuss permission to drop below 12 credits.
