Current, Initial, or Active I-20<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_3ef87896-04bb-46c5-887b-cd8a243d6061\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_3ef87896-04bb-46c5-887b-cd8a243d6061\" should:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reflect your current program of study with a future end date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include a DSO signature&nbsp;that was signed&nbsp;less than one year ago&nbsp;for travel on page 2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When returning to the U.S. you must return:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before your I-20&nbsp;expiration&nbsp;date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before the next quarter&#8217;s starting date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_b12384e6-cdb1-4d38-985d-ca36fd3520c6\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_b12384e6-cdb1-4d38-985d-ca36fd3520c6\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_b12384e6-cdb1-4d38-985d-ca36fd3520c6\">A valid F-1 visa to re-enter the U.S.<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_b12384e6-cdb1-4d38-985d-ca36fd3520c6\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_b12384e6-cdb1-4d38-985d-ca36fd3520c6\" data-parent=\"#accordion_c4522f6c-345e-4996-8af9-8b9d9f05bf9f\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_c4522f6c-345e-4996-8af9-8b9d9f05bf9f\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A valid visa is needed to enter the U.S. in most cases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most countries issue F-1 visas with \u201cM\u201d (multiple) under entries, allowing unlimited entries.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If your visa has expired or you have used all allowed entries, you must renew your F-1 visa before returning to the U.S.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are some exceptions for&nbsp;<strong>Canada<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Mexico<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To renew your F-1 visa, follow&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/study\/student-visa.html\">the U.S. Department of States\u2019 F-1 visa information<\/a>.&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consider bringing copies of your Bellevue College class schedule, transcript, updated financial documents, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/international.bellevuecollege.edu\/index.cfm?FuseAction=Students.Apply&amp;Program_ID=10046\">enrollment verification letter<\/a> from your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: If an F-1 student stays outside the U.S. for more than five months, a new visa is usually required to re-enter. Contact the U.S. Consulate in your home country to confirm.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_20d90fcf-665a-45ed-8e2b-229d912388bc\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_20d90fcf-665a-45ed-8e2b-229d912388bc\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_20d90fcf-665a-45ed-8e2b-229d912388bc\">Evidences of F-1 Student Status<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_20d90fcf-665a-45ed-8e2b-229d912388bc\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_20d90fcf-665a-45ed-8e2b-229d912388bc\" data-parent=\"#accordion_c4522f6c-345e-4996-8af9-8b9d9f05bf9f\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_c4522f6c-345e-4996-8af9-8b9d9f05bf9f\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>You are advised to <strong>print out<\/strong> <strong>and bring<\/strong> the following documents with you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ctclink\/students\/training\/get-your-itemized-invoice-tutorial\/\">Recent tuition receipts<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/current-students\/records-grades\/view-unofficial-transcript\/\">An unofficial transcript<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ctclink\/students\/training\/class-schedule\/\">enrolled classes schedule<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_051e9bb3-759f-46a1-9177-ac41caa206d5\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_051e9bb3-759f-46a1-9177-ac41caa206d5\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_051e9bb3-759f-46a1-9177-ac41caa206d5\">Reentry to the&nbsp;U.S. from Canada and Mexico with an expired visa<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_051e9bb3-759f-46a1-9177-ac41caa206d5\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_051e9bb3-759f-46a1-9177-ac41caa206d5\" data-parent=\"#accordion_c4522f6c-345e-4996-8af9-8b9d9f05bf9f\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_c4522f6c-345e-4996-8af9-8b9d9f05bf9f\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>F-1 students with an expired U.S. visa (<mark style=\"background-color:#F2C01E\" class=\"has-inline-color\">or F-1 I-94 from a change of status<\/mark>) may continue to re-enter the U.S. from Canada or Mexico as long as they meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Passport and current SEVIS I-20 are still valid<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You remain in Canada or Mexico for no more than 30 days, and you do not leave Canada or Mexico during those 30 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have not applied for a new U.S. visa while in Canada or Mexico and had that application denied<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are not from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Sudan, North Korea, or Cuba<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Special Travel Issues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For complicated situations<\/strong> &#8211; consult an immigration attorney for any status issues or complexities prior to departing or attempting to re-enter the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A travel signature for reentry to the United States to resume your study at Bellevue College is&nbsp;an F-1 visa benefit and is&nbsp;granted&nbsp;only if you are&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;status.&nbsp;Out-of-status students with terminated SEVIS record may&nbsp;depart&nbsp;the United States but cannot reenter with the I-20. Consult with your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> if you are&nbsp;terminated&nbsp;or have a pending immigration case with United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapsibles accordion\" id=\"accordion_94dd4991-a05f-403e-adeb-2d4093294251\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_ab2a70a3-573f-4981-b036-c851d2292c31\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_ab2a70a3-573f-4981-b036-c851d2292c31\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_ab2a70a3-573f-4981-b036-c851d2292c31\">Travel Bans and Restrictions to the U.S. Entry<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_ab2a70a3-573f-4981-b036-c851d2292c31\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_ab2a70a3-573f-4981-b036-c851d2292c31\" data-parent=\"#accordion_94dd4991-a05f-403e-adeb-2d4093294251\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_94dd4991-a05f-403e-adeb-2d4093294251\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p id=\"block-ba23ac75-f12a-4280-86fd-23dd14c1b8b2\">Since June 4, 2025, there are two U.S. Presidential Proclamations restricting entry to the United States by nationals of certain countries.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-59227da4-9cd7-4f7e-a532-a352a2db175b\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/06\/restricting-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-united-states-from-foreign-terrorists-and-other-national-security-and-public-safety-threats\/\">Presidential Proclamation&nbsp;<strong>10949 of June 4, 2025<\/strong>,&nbsp;published on whitehouse.gov<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2025\/06\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-restricts-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-united-states-from-foreign-terrorists-and-other-national-security-and-public-safety-threats\/\">White House Fact Sheet on Proclamation 10949<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/12\/restricting-and-limiting-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-security-of-the-united-states\/\">Presidential Proclamation&nbsp;<strong>10998 of December 16, 2025<\/strong>, published on whitehouse.gov<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2025\/12\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-further-restricts-and-limits-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-security-of-the-united-states\/\">White House Fact Sheet on Proclamation 10998 of December 16, 2025<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department of State News Alert on February 2, 2026:&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/News\/visas-news\/suspension-of-visa-issuance-to-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-security-of-the-united-states.html\">Suspension of Visa Issuance to Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-8c50b250-d14a-402f-b34a-7864afc1e676\">The travel bans&nbsp;and restrictions are applicable only to nationals of the&nbsp;subject countries&nbsp;who:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-7f03ce90-2171-44e9-a320-6d9839871c4b\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>are outside the U.S. on January 01,&nbsp;2026&nbsp;12:01 am eastern standard time,\u202fand&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>do&nbsp;not have a valid visa on January 01,&nbsp;2026&nbsp;12:01 am eastern standard time.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-985e45f8-a379-4a2d-b14b-0932638ec22d\">If you must travel outside of the U.S. and plan to resume studying at Bellevue College, we strongly&nbsp;advise&nbsp;you consult with your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> and an immigration attorney. If you must renew your F-1 visa, you are likely&nbsp;to&nbsp;be subject to&nbsp;the travel&nbsp;bans and restrictions.
