It is important to understand your transcript, course repetition, and making academic progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapsibles accordion\" id=\"accordion_48da6006-07eb-4d2e-a72e-95f9ac98b48b\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_f3b8c6e1-3e3a-483b-b360-c69e7c29d699\"><h2 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_f3b8c6e1-3e3a-483b-b360-c69e7c29d699\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_f3b8c6e1-3e3a-483b-b360-c69e7c29d699\">Understanding Your Transcript<\/button><\/h2><\/div><div id=\"collapse_f3b8c6e1-3e3a-483b-b360-c69e7c29d699\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_f3b8c6e1-3e3a-483b-b360-c69e7c29d699\" data-parent=\"#accordion_48da6006-07eb-4d2e-a72e-95f9ac98b48b\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_48da6006-07eb-4d2e-a72e-95f9ac98b48b\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>There are <strong>three types of GPA<\/strong> (Grade Point Average) listed on your transcript:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>QTRYL \u2013 Quarterly GPA<\/strong>: The average of all course grades for one specific quarter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CUM \u2013 Cumulative GPA<\/strong>: The average of all courses on your transcript, including ELIUP courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CLVL \u2013 College-Level GPA<\/strong>: The average of all courses numbered <strong>100 or higher<\/strong>. For example, ENGL 101 is a college-level course. This can be submitted through the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.bellevuecollege.edu\/studentcentral\/repeated-course\/\">Repeated Coursework Request<\/a><\/strong> form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you repeat a course, your <strong>GPA will be recalculated<\/strong> using the <strong>new grade<\/strong>. However, the original grade will still appear on your transcript with an &#8220;R&#8221; (for Repeated) next to it. The original grade is not removed but no longer affects your GPA.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_06db7b0b-4349-457d-a424-4e56f1df8386\"><h2 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_06db7b0b-4349-457d-a424-4e56f1df8386\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_06db7b0b-4349-457d-a424-4e56f1df8386\">Academic Progress<\/button><\/h2><\/div><div id=\"collapse_06db7b0b-4349-457d-a424-4e56f1df8386\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_06db7b0b-4349-457d-a424-4e56f1df8386\" data-parent=\"#accordion_48da6006-07eb-4d2e-a72e-95f9ac98b48b\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_48da6006-07eb-4d2e-a72e-95f9ac98b48b\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> will monitor your GPA and overall academic progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As an F-1 visa student, you are required to make <strong>normal progress<\/strong> toward completing your program by the end date listed on your I-20.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Per Bellevue College&#8217;s Academic Standards, \u201cacademic progress\u201d means&nbsp;you must maintain a <strong>cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher<\/strong> to remain in good academic standing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not meet academic progress requirements, you may not be able to complete your program by your I-20 end date. This may place your <strong>F-1 visa status at risk<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong>English Language Institute<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to make progress in your classes so you are ready for college. When learning a new language, it is normal to repeat a class. However, it is also important to keep improving. If you are having difficulty, meet with your teachers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> for support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>All <\/strong>grades are included on your academic transcript and count toward your GPA (Grade Point Average). Each quarter, you are expected to complete your level and move to the next level. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you want to repeat a level or move to a lower level, speak with your teacher before the end of the quarter. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/eli\/faculty\/\">The ELI Program Chair<\/a> must approve your request.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapsibles accordion\" id=\"accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_17c9c30f-881d-4eda-9d1c-f22a26bed644\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_17c9c30f-881d-4eda-9d1c-f22a26bed644\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_17c9c30f-881d-4eda-9d1c-f22a26bed644\">Getting a \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d Grade for the 1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;time: Academic Warning<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_17c9c30f-881d-4eda-9d1c-f22a26bed644\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_17c9c30f-881d-4eda-9d1c-f22a26bed644\" data-parent=\"#accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>If you&#8217;re on Academic Warning, you&#8217;ll repeat the class and meet with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> to explore ways to improve and learn about campus resources. Teachers will know you&#8217;re repeating the class and can support you during the next quarter.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_a3bf4fe0-a438-4e36-a942-8586c1bca181\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_a3bf4fe0-a438-4e36-a942-8586c1bca181\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_a3bf4fe0-a438-4e36-a942-8586c1bca181\">Getting a \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d Grade for the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;time: Academic Probation<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_a3bf4fe0-a438-4e36-a942-8586c1bca181\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_a3bf4fe0-a438-4e36-a942-8586c1bca181\" data-parent=\"#accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>If you&#8217;re on <strong>Academic Probation<\/strong>, you must repeat the class(es) again and meet with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> to review probation requirements and create an academic success plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you pass your Academic Warning class(es) with a C\u2013 or higher, but fail a different class (D or F), you will be placed on Academic Warning for the new class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you <strong>fail the same class twice<\/strong>, all of your teachers for that quarter must agree that you can stay in the program:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If <strong>all teachers agree<\/strong>, you may repeat the class a <strong>third and final time<\/strong>. You must sign a contract with your international advisor, attend all classes, and complete all homework. If you don&#8217;t follow the contract, you may be dismissed from the ELIUP program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If <strong>any teacher does not agree<\/strong>, you will be <strong>dismissed<\/strong> from the ELIUP program. You must transfer to another school within <strong>15 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a TOEFL score of 500 PBT (61 iBT) or higher, you may return to Bellevue College and apply to the College Credit program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_cb44e162-304b-4286-a650-f8caba0e0b1d\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_cb44e162-304b-4286-a650-f8caba0e0b1d\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_cb44e162-304b-4286-a650-f8caba0e0b1d\">Getting a \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d Grade for the 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;time: Dismissal Warning<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_cb44e162-304b-4286-a650-f8caba0e0b1d\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_cb44e162-304b-4286-a650-f8caba0e0b1d\" data-parent=\"#accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_b34917ec-df36-40e7-9d2a-325210990cc5\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p>A student who does not pass their class(es) while on academic probation may be dismissed from the English Language Institute Programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student will meet with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a> advisor to discuss options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Appeal to continue studying for another quarter. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/eli\/faculty\/\">ELI Program Chair<\/a> will review the appeal and decide if the appeal is approved or not.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer to another school. You may have an out of status SEVIS record.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave the United States (or find a different legal reason to remain here).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Students who are dismissed from the ELI may return to the program after leaving for four consecutive quarters. Students will take the ELI placement test again and be placed according to the new results.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-bc-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong>College Credit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re dismissed from Bellevue College while in a college-level program, your <strong>SEVIS record may be terminated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you receive a notice about your <strong>Academic Standing<\/strong>, contact your <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/international\/current-students\/advising\/\">International Advisor<\/a><\/strong> right away to discuss your options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All grades, including those from ELIUP courses, appear on your academic transcript and count toward your GPA (Grade Point Average). You will also be asked to complete an Academic Agreement.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse card bg-info text-bg-info\"><div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading_e955de26-73b7-4abe-89ef-b963e281d4cb\"><h3 class=\"mb-0\"><button class=\"btn collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse_e955de26-73b7-4abe-89ef-b963e281d4cb\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_e955de26-73b7-4abe-89ef-b963e281d4cb\">Academic Restriction<\/button><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"collapse_e955de26-73b7-4abe-89ef-b963e281d4cb\" class=\"collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_e955de26-73b7-4abe-89ef-b963e281d4cb\" data-parent=\"#accordion_45e57c96-ca2a-4d72-a44e-7d2d6c09faeb\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_45e57c96-ca2a-4d72-a44e-7d2d6c09faeb\"><div class=\"card-body bg-light text-dark\">\n<p><b>Academic Restriction: The third quarter&nbsp;you earn a quarterly GPA of less than 2.0 AND your cumulative GPA is less than 2.0, you will be sent a termination warning letter. <\/b>This letter explains that you are not making academic progress. According to USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services), F-1 visa students are required to make academic progress in order to complete their I-20 by the program end date. A block will be placed on your student account. You will not be permitted to register for future quarters. You must meet with the Assistant Director of Student Success to discuss your Academic Agreement and discuss how you will improve your situation. If you do not take action, you will not be permitted to register.
