It is a flexible space that offers student study and collaboration space and provides space for events sponsored or co-sponsored by the library or other units within Connected Learning. This area is already in high demand and cannot be \u201cclosed off\u201d from other library spaces; therefore, reserving it as an event space is limited. Short events (a few hours or less) that focus on student engagement and learning are prioritized, along with those that least disturb students studying nearby. Events are subject to the following rules that help to minimize event impact on students&#8217; use of the library for study purposes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use of the Collaboratory for events is mainly restricted to library sponsored or co-sponsored events and events by other Connected Learning units with approval of the Associate Dean of Library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Events are not scheduled in the Collaboratory during the last 2 weeks of each quarter nor during finals week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Events must take place during the hours that the library is open unless prior approval is given by the Associate Dean of Library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No sound amplification by speakers or presenters can be used in this space because of its impact on nearby areas where students are studying.&nbsp; Exceptions may be granted for accessibility reasons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food &amp; drink that follows the library\u2019s food policy is allowed. All other food requests must be approved by the Associate Dean of Library before event coordinator requests food\/drink.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set-up and tear-down will be restricted to 30 minutes before the event and 30 minutes after the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The event coordinator (library or connected learning employee or their designee) is responsible for:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Requesting presenter workstation and projection equipment and seeing that it is removed promptly after the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Putting tables\/chairs back to their original positions (see diagram posted in the Collaboratory and (coming soon!) attached to this policy) and locking wheels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wiping down any tables that have become dirty during the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seeing that any food\/drink\/tables\/equipment\/extra trash bins\/etc. brought into the space for the event are removed promptly after the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Policy Updated November 2025<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Collaboratory Use Policy The Collaboratory is a large space in the library which was developed as a partnership between RISE and the Library.
