Reserve items are located at the Library Circulation desk and are available to students to check out for short periods of time. Instructors determine the length of check-out time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Placing Items on Reserve<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To place an item on reserve, fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/lmc\/faculty-support\/course-reserves\/course-reserves-request-form\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"417\">course reserve form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"callout-wrapper col\">\n\t<aside class=\"callout text-margin-reset \">\n\t\t<h3 class=\"callout__heading card-title-small\">Timing<\/h3>\n\t\t<p>To make sure your items are ready by the first day of the quarter, please submit your request at least one week before the quarter begins. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<hr class=\"section-divider\" \/>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"section section-white body-section-wrapper alignfull wp-block-bc-sitka-spruce-body-section\">\n\t<div class=\"container-xl\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\n<div class=\"body-section-content col-md-8\">\n\t\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Loan Periods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Items can be borrowed for any of the following loan periods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 Hours, In Library Use Only&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 Hours&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 Hours&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overnight&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 Days&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 Days&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<hr class=\"section-divider\" \/>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Copyright and Fair Use<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>The information below is provided to aid instructors in understanding how to appropriately use course reserves in accordance with copyright law. However, instructors are responsible for evaluating whether their use of materials complies with copyright law. The library places items on course reserve with the understanding that instructors have determined that doing so qualifies as fair use, has been permitted by the copyright owner, or is otherwise in compliance with copyright law.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>The library&nbsp;<strong><em>may<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;refuse to place materials on reserve or remove materials from reserve on account of copyright or other legal or administrative concerns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Materials Allowed on Reserve<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The following items are generally able to be placed on reserve:<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Items from BC Library\u2019s collection (books, periodicals, video, etc.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Items from an instructor\u2019s personal collection (books, periodicals, video, models\/teaching aids, etc.) that have been lawfully obtained&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Syllabi, class notes, sample tests, and homework solutions authored by the instructor of the course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to five photocopies of a: book chapter, periodical article, one short story, essay or short poem, or one chart, graph, diagram, cartoon or picture from a single work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The following items are generally not able to be placed on reserve:<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Items owned by another library<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Library reference materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course packets, course readers, lab manuals, and\/or other collected materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Papers, test answers, or other work authored by students unless accompanied by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.bellevuecollege.edu\/studentcentral\/information-release-authorization\/?_gl=1*moisfd*_gcl_au*MTYyNDE1NjQ5Mi4xNzYyNzkwMTIx*_ga*MTU0MTMwNDYyMS4xNzU5ODk0MjMw*_ga_D205WT30XL*czE3NjU0MjczNTckbzExNSRnMSR0MTc2NTQzMTQ5OCRqNDkkbDAkaDczOTUzNzU1NCRkaERjajR6MkRWM0piblZ2NXZOYXR3RTNGaW5XRXV1MmFRdw..\">written permission form<\/a>&nbsp;waiving applicable (FERPA) privacy rights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>For more information, review our <a href=\"https:\/\/bellevuecollege.libguides.com\/copyright\/home\">Copyright and Fair Use Resource Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">End of Quarter Procedures<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Course reserve items are removed from library shelves at the end of each academic quarter.
