For more than 15 years, the Bellevue College Summer Kids Camp has served Eastside families with a safe, affordable, educational, and fun experience for their three to six-year-old children. As part of the Parent Education Program, experienced teachers provide fun experiences for young children in BC’s Early Learning Center classrooms on the main campus.
“Enrolling children in a Summer Kids Camp session is a great way for parents to ensure that school year early learning and fun continues through the summer,” said Lisa Allen, director of the Parent Education and Early Learning program. Six sessions feature developmentally appropriate early learning activities built around different, fun, kid friendly themes. The age range allows parents to enroll siblings in the same camp and kids get the benefits of a mixed-age experience.
According to camp coordinator Barbara Hill, “Plenty of Summer Kids Camp families return as many summers in a row as they can and look forward to the time when younger siblings can join the fun. Some families enroll cousins visiting from out of town. Kids love to come to camp with a friend from the neighborhood or from school. Parents are glad to have some adult time while their kids are safe and secure with trusted teachers engaged in summer time fun.”
Children must be no older than six years old or younger than three years old at the start of the session for which they enroll. Parents can choose from six sessions, each with a different, kid-friendly theme, to fit with their family’s summer plans. Each Kids Camp session operates four days a week, Monday-Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon. This year, BC Summer Kids Camp starts on July 6 and ends August 13.
Registration is by mail only and opens in March. Sessions fill quickly, so interested parents should check the Parent Education website for up to date information www.bellevuecollege.edu/parented/summer/.
