{"id":289,"date":"2014-09-10T10:21:30","date_gmt":"2014-09-10T17:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ndt\/?page_id=289"},"modified":"2022-04-29T08:55:20","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T15:55:20","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ndt\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Neurodiagnostic Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Is a scientific field focused on recording\/studying electrical activity of brain\/nervous system, where Neurodiagnostic Technologists operate electroencephalograph (EEG) machines to record electrical impulses transmitted by brain\/nervous system to perform tests assisting in diagnosis of neurological disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Common NDT Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To take medical histories, prepare patients for testing, and apply electrodes<\/li><li>Identify interferences<\/li><li>Prepare written reports of tracings for neurologist<\/li><li>Monitor patients during procedures, and&nbsp;respond to medical emergencies<\/li><li>Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate testing and diagnosis<\/li><li>Operate digital computerized EEG instrumentation<\/li><li>Care for patient\u2019s basic needs, such as&nbsp;cleaning patient after procedure<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Areas of Specialization Taught by Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>EEG &#8211; Electroencephalogram<\/strong><br>Tests that measure and records the electrical activity of the brain. Diagnosis: Epilepsy, Dementia, Seizures<\/li><li><strong>PSG &#8211; Polysomnogram<br><\/strong>Sleep Study<\/li><li><strong>NCV &#8211; Nerve Conduction Studies<\/strong><br>Measures the electrical activity of nerves at rest and during contraction.
