Bellevue College was one of three colleges in Washington state chosen to compete in Outdoor Nation’s Campus Challenge, an initiative of the Outdoor Nation Foundation. The Campus Challenge offers a fun way for participants to get outside, get exercise, and engage with others who enjoy the outdoors. The event runs Sep. 4 – Oct. 15.
Bellevue College students, faculty, staff, and community members who register for the event as BC supporters are entered to win prizes in the form of free outdoor gear and discounts. Participants log their outdoor endeavors through the Outdoor Nation Smartphone app. Each activity picture and post adds points to Bellevue College’s leaderboard. The college with the most points will be named the National Outdoor Challenge Champion, and one person from each school will be named the Most Outdoorsy Person.
Bellevue College’s Wellness Center is supporting the event. “It’s a great excuse to take a break from screen time and really enjoy the outdoors,” said Peter Prescott, Wellness Center Program Manager and Fitness Center Director. “You don’t have to be an expert mountaineer to join in the fun – literally if you’re outside anywhere, you can log and post your activity. This event will give our entire community a way to show others how we enjoy our great NW outdoor landscapes. As one of the four most active states in the nation, I think we could easily win this title. Get out there… and show us what you do.”
