Today Bellevue College (BC) announced a new vaccination incentive program that could award eligible, vaccinated students scholarships ranging from $250 to $400. The goal is to help increase the number of vaccinated Washingtonians, while also supporting student success. Funding for the scholarships is provided by the Washington State COVID-19 Vaccination Incentive Program and the Bellevue College Foundation.

Students don’t need to apply, and if they meet all the eligibility criteria, they will automatically be included in the selection process. To be eligible, students: must have completed six or more credits during Spring Quarter 2021; declare an intent to attend BC in the Fall of 2021; provide proof that they have received at least one shot of their COVID-19 vaccine regimen.

Those who received their first vaccination by June 30, 2021, will be eligible for a $250 scholarship for the Fall 2021 Quarter. As an extra incentive for those who haven’t been vaccinated yet, selected students who receive their first vaccination dose between July 1 and July 22, 2021 will be eligible for a $400 scholarship for the Fall 2021 Quarter.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Washington State COVID-19 Vaccination Incentive Program to get even more members of our community vaccinated,” said Rebecca Chawgo, Executive Director of the Bellevue College Foundation. “We’ve all sacrificed so much to keep our campus safe, and while we celebrate the reopening of the state, the emergence of new and more transmissible variants is a reminder that we can’t let our guard down yet. Vaccination is the best way to maintain our health, and the health of our friends, family and neighbors.”

Eligible students will be chosen randomly, and the Bellevue College Foundation expects to award 50 scholarships total.
